It’s been SO LONG since we’ve seen Hu Ge, Liu Yifei and An Yixuan together since Chinese Paladin ended several years ago. Just a few nights ago, the three of them among other artists attended the 2011 Elle China Style Awards Night in Shanghai. The three of them posed for a picture together~ It’s like a little Chinese Paladin reunion :D Check out some photos from the event below!

Hu Ge, Joey Yung, Mag Lam in “DIVA” 2011 Film

It has been confirmed Hu Ge will be the male lead in upcoming Hong Kong film ‘DIVA’, alongside Hong Kong singer-actress Joey Yung. I was quite surprised when I found out Hu Ge will be participating in the film as I was just expecting another Hong Kong actor to take the lead role. I like Joey Yung as a singer (she’s my favourite Canto-pop artist), but I always felt acting wasn’t one of her strong points, so I don’t usually watch much of her stuff. Now I have more reason to see this with Hu Ge on board :) I hope it will be good!

‘DIVA’ is a modern love story with Joey Yung (who plays as herself as a Diva) and Hu Ge playing the leads. Newcomer Mag Lam will challenge Joey in the film for Diva status and be paired up with Carlos Chan. The EEG film is tailored-made for Joey and is directed by Heiward Mak and produced by Chapman To.

The film is schedule for release in second quarter of 2012. More info will be posted as more is released!

Crystal Liu Yifei to star with Chow Yun Fat in “Bronze Sparrow Terrace” 2012

Actress Crystal Liu Yifei will be starring alongside Hong Kong mega star Chow Yun-fat in the 2012 film “Bronze Sparrow Terrace” (“铜雀台” Tong Que Tai). “Bronze Sparrow Terrace” is director Zhao Linshan’s latest historical romance film, which revolves around a love story between Tsao Tsao and a girl named Lingju. The film kicked off its shooting schedule in Zhuozhou Studio, Hebei province.

Here are some photos of Crystal Liu Yifei at the press conference along with the director.

The cast members also include Japanese actor Hiroshi Tamaki and Taiwanese actor Alec Su. The movie is scheduled to be released on October 2012.

Crystal Liu Yifei endorses QNYH 倩女幽魂 Online

Crystal Liu Yifei is now the face of QNYH (Qian Nv You Hun) Online, an MMORPG developed and published by NetEase. This is the second time Liu Yifei has been chosen to be a spokesperson for an MMORPG, the first being “Perfect World”.

Watch a clip of Yifei promoting the game and take a look at some behind the scene snippets of her photo shoot! Not being much of a MMORPG gamer myself, I’m mostly excited about all the stunning pretty photos which will be released! Liu Yifei looks really gorgeous, in particular as fantasy/wuxia characters.

Some really exciting news for XianJian PAL1 fans! A new Xian Jian game 《新仙劍奇俠傳ONLINE》 is in the making which is rumored to be web-based (created by Dream² ). Not exciting enough? Check out this awesome new battle clip of our favourite heroes; Li Xiaoyao, Zhao Ling’er and Lin Yue’ru! This is making my inner fangirl squeal :3~ I love love love the look of Ling’er here! She is sooo pretty and has never looked better :) I also miss seeing Yue’ru who also kicks-ass in this clip. I’m a little unsure about Xiaoyao’s look which is based off XianJian 2 game. I much prefer his outfit from the classic XianJian1 with the brown hood/cape.

White Vengeance 鸿门宴 Liu Yifei and Feng Shaofeng photos

Feng Shaofeng 馮紹峰 and Liu Yifei 劉亦菲 play as tragic lovers Xiang Yu and Consort Yuji in the upcoming film “White Vengeance 鸿门宴“. The pair commit suicide one after another after Xiang Yu is defeated by Liu Bang (played by Leon Lai), who eventually becomes the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty.

Filming wrapped up last month and is expected to hit cinemas in November.

Hu Ge, Liu Shishi and Tang Yan are set to star in another fantasy RPG drama: Xuanyuan Sword 3 Scar of the Sky 轩辕剑三外传之天之痕. This television series is adapted from the video game of the same name, which was developed by Softstar Inc, the same company who created the ‘XianJian QiXia Zhuan‘ games. Having recently heard the theme song to Dreaming of Deer and the Cauldron – “I Will Not Be a Hero” 【我不做英雄】 performed by Hu Ge, I naturally decided to share it with my boyfriend. Upon hearing it for the first time, he actually recognised the tune from one of his favourite bands! The melody is very similar to “Negai“, performed by the very popular Japanese group “JAM Project”.

“I Will Not Be a Hero” 【我不做英雄】 is a song composed by Yan Yidan 嚴藝丹, who is also responsible for the Meteor Shower OST and Happy Camp album among others. However, after hearing JAM Project’s “Negai” I’m starting to wonder if it’s actually original.

As you can see, the song was released several months before while this song only came out this month. The main tune isn’t the same, but the start, middle and end has a striking resemblance. Have a listen to both and judge for yourself. Perhaps the song was merely an inspiration or a complete co-incidence….but the similarity is hard to ignore.

Just in time for the XianJian QiXia Zhuan 5 game release on July 07 2011, I’ve completed a set of ‘Chibi Dolls’ of the four main leads: Jiang Yun Fan 姜云凡, Tang Yu Rou 唐雨柔, Longyou and Xiao Man 小蠻.

Bu Bu Jing Xin 步步惊心 (also known as Startling by Each Step) is a new 35 episode time-traveling drama starring Liu Shishi, Nicky Wu and Kevin Cheng. Liu Shishi, a 25 year-old modern day woman woke up from a car accident to find herself in the body of a 16 year-old Manchu girl living in the 18th century Qing Dynasty. In her new life, she became deeply entangled in Aisin Gioro princes’ battle for the throne.

The drama’s theme song “One Persistent Thought” Yi Nian Zhi Zhu 一念執著 is a duet between Hu Ge and Alan Dawa Dolma. Hu Ge has sung many songs for his dramas such as “June’s Rain” (Chinese Paladin), “Forgetting Time” (Chinese Paladin 3), “Dare to Love” (Fantasy Zhu Xian) and many more. He has also sung is the theme song for “Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei”. You can download his albums here.

Alan Dawa Dolma (professionally known as Alan) is a female Tibetan-Chinese singer active in the Japanese music industry. Alan’s surprised the Chinese audiences with her divine voice when she sang the themes for Red Cliff and Red Cliff 2.

Hu Ge in Jackie Chan’s 1911 Xinhai Revolution 辛亥革命 Film

1911, also known as Xinhai Revolution 辛亥革命 and The 1911 Revolution, is an upcoming Chinese historical drama film. Directed by Jackie Chan, the film is a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution. The film stars Jackie Chan, Winston Chao, Li Bingbing, Jaycee Chan and Joan Chen. The film is set to be released on 26 September 2011 simultaneously worldwide, which is the National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

Like the Fantasy Zhu Xian mini-drama, a commercial trailer for 梦回鹿鼎记 Online (The Duke of Mount Deer Online game/Dreaming of Deer and the Cauldron) was released on 13th June 2011. This time, the cast is primarily from Bu Bu Jing Xin 步步惊心 starring Nicky Wu, Liu Shishi, Lin Gengxin and Liu Xinyou. Hu Ge again takes the leading role with his portrayal of Wei Xiao Bao 韦小宝.

This will be a full movie released some time in July 2011!!

Chinese Paladin Opening & Closing Theme

At last, I finally got around to making screen captures of the Chinese Paladin opening and closing credits! (These can now also be found in our gallery)

I remember the first time I watched the opening theme for Chinese Paladin, I was “wowed”. Having played the original game, I easily identified many of the iconic scenes, such as Li Xiaoyao and Zhao Ling’er in ‘Xian Ling Dao’, Xiaoyao and Yue’ru in the marriage fighting contest, Liu Jing Yuan being bitten by the spider, the leviathan who eventually kills Ling’er, and of course, Ling’er in her true Nuwa form chained up in the Demon Locking Pagoda.

It wasn’t hard figuring out the three mains leads; Li Xiaoyao, Zhao Ling’er and Lin Yue’ru, since there’s quite a bit of resemblance in their appearance. I had an idea of A’nu, but wasn’t quite sure of a few others like Tang Yu since he wasn’t main in the game at all. But of course, there was bound to be a few changes and I was interested to see how they could give an RPG which moved in a linear fashion to something dynamic. To date, it’s still one of my favourite drama opening footage of all time. The song “Killing Broken Wolves 殺破狼” by JS suits this perfectly, and just by hearing it now reminds me of how tragic this story becomes…

Now let’s talk a bit about the closing/ending credits video. The first thing I want to mention is, there is a TON of spoilers! I’m not sure why companies do this, but I feel it can really ruin a bit (okay…a lot) of the story, especially those who did not play the original game. Why? The ending theme is filled with pure sadness and tragic events (with most occurring towards the end of the drama). While the opening theme depicts some of the iconic scenes, it mostly acts like a character introduction. However, when it comes to the closing video, every scene makes a statement like “This character is going to die!” This one too! And this one!” It’s depressing and shocking. Every time I see the footage of the Demon Locking Pagoda crumbling, and a desaturated Yue’ru ringing her little bell, it makes me want to cry… That tragic scene along with poor blood-splattered Ling’er dying in Xiaoyao’s arms is just too much to bear.

As a standalone video, I think it has a great composition, and the song “Finally Understand 終於明白” by Power Station suits it well. I’m just not sure it was appropriate to spoil everything in one go. Being a Tangren Shanghai production, be warned! Many of their other series closing credits contain many many spoilers too (I learned this the hard way XD)
